MAKASSAR — The Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) successfully held a seminar titled "The Future of Supply Chain Management: Building Smart, Resilient, and Sustainable Supply Chains through AI and Digital Innovation." The event took place on Monday, February 14, 2026, and featured an expert speaker in supply chain management, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Kusrini, M.T., CPIM, CSCP, SCOR-P.
The seminar addressed the crucial theme of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation can transform supply chain management, making it smarter, resilient against disruptions, and environmentally and economically sustainable.
In her presentation, Prof. Elisa explained that the industrial world currently faces increasingly complex challenges, ranging from market uncertainty and price fluctuations to the impacts of climate change. Consequently, supply chains must be not only efficient but also resilient and sustainable.
"In this digital era, a reliable supply chain is one capable of leveraging data and technology to predict changes, adapt quickly, and simultaneously reduce environmental impact. AI is not merely a supporting tool; it is the key to building smart and sustainable systems," stated Prof. Elisa.
The event was attended by lecturers and students from the UMI Industrial Engineering Study Program, as well as industry practitioners from Makassar. Participants showed great enthusiasm during discussions covering the application of digital technology, data integration, and strategies for building supply chains that are resilient yet environmentally friendly.
The Head of the UMI Industrial Engineering Study Program noted that the event aligns with the program's vision of producing graduates who are not only technically competent but also prepared to face the challenges of the future industrial landscape. "We hope that through this event, students and all participants will gain up-to-date insights into the direction of supply chain management development, as well as the importance of digital innovation and technology in creating superior industrial systems," he stated.
The seminar is expected to serve as a bridge between academic theory and industry needs, particularly in realizing a smart, resilient, and sustainable supply chain ecosystem in Indonesia.
