Industrial Engineering Students Deepen Manufacturing Insights Through "Industrial Visit 2026" at Petrokimia Gresik

GRESIK– In an effort to align theo­re­ti­cal un­ders­tan­ding in col­lege with rea­li­ties in the world of work, the In­dus­trial Engi­nee­ring Stu­dent As­so­cia­tion suc­cess­fully held the 2026 In­dus­trial Visit agenda. One of the main des­ti­na­tions in the series of visits to the Su­ra­baya and Malang areas this time was PT Pe­tro­ki­mia Gresik.

The group of stu­dents wea­ring their proud green alma mater jac­kets was warmly wel­co­med at the Pe­tro­ki­mia Gresik Lear­ning Ser­vice Center. This visit aims to pro­vide a com­pre­hen­sive over­view of the pro­duc­tion pro­cess, supply chain ma­na­ge­ment, and work safety system (K3) at one of the most com­plete fer­ti­li­zer pro­du­cers in In­do­ne­sia.

Brid­ging Theory and Prac­tice

The chief or­ga­ni­zer of the ac­ti­vity said that the choice of Pe­tro­ki­mia Gresik as the lo­ca­tion for the visit was based on the com­ple­xity of the in­dus­trial system owned by the com­pany.

"We want to see first­hand how the prin­ci­ples of In­dus­trial Engi­nee­ring, such as pro­duc­tion line op­ti­mi­za­tion and qua­lity ma­na­ge­ment, are ap­plied on a large scale. Pe­tro­ki­mia Gresik is an ex­traor­di­nary living la­bo­ra­tory for us," he said during the do­cu­men­ta­tion ses­sion.

Su­ra­baya-Malang Travel Series

This visit to Pe­tro­ki­mia Gresik is part of a series of In­dus­trial Visit 2026 pro­grams co­ve­ring the Su­ra­baya and Malang areas. During this trip, stu­dents not only learn about tech­ni­cal as­pects, but also net­work with in­dustry prac­ti­tio­ners.

Through this ac­ti­vity, it is hoped that pros­pec­tive In­dus­trial Engi­nee­ring gra­dua­tes will have more mature know­ledge and a broa­der view of future in­dus­trial chal­le­nges, es­pe­cially in sup­por­ting na­tio­nal food se­cu­rity through the agro-in­dus­trial sector.
