REACTOR 2025: High School Student Creativity Event in the Fields of Science and Arts

Makassar, 24 May 2025 – Chemical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) Indonesian Muslim University (UMI), in collaboration with the Chemical Engineering Student Association (HIMATEKIM) FTI UMI, heldResearch and Creativity Competition of Engineers (REACTOR) 2025. This annual activity aims to hone high school students' creativity in the fields of design, research and communication skills. This year the REACTOR 2025 activity was attended by 24 high schools from around the Makassar area, with various competitions being contested, including:

  • Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI)
  • Speech Contest
  • Create Poetry
  • 3D Mading
  • Poster Design

The event which lasted for two days, from 24 to 26 May 2025, was officially opened by the Dean of FTI UMI, accompanied by the Deputy Dean, Head of the Chemical Engineering Study Program, as well as a number of lecturers and staff. In his speech, the Dean of FTI expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants and hoped that REACTOR could become a forum for developing high school students' talents in the fields of science and arts.

"Through REACTOR, we want to encourage the spirit of innovation and creativity of the younger generation, as well as introduce the world of chemical engineering that is applicable and fun," said the Head of the UMI Chemical Engineering Study Program.

This activity is not only a competition, but also a means for participants to network and explore their interests in the field of chemical engineering. Various series of events, including workshops and work exhibitions, also enlivened REACTOR 2025.

The highlight of the event will be held on May 26 2025 with the announcement of the winners and presentation of prizes. It is hoped that REACTOR can continue to be an event that high school students look forward to every year.
